The late jazz legend James P. Johnson became famous for tunes such as "The Charleston" and "Carolina Shout". His piano virtuosity and compositional talent profoundly influenced other piano legends such as Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, and many others.
"Father of Stride Piano"
Many of his original large-scale compositions are being restored to the repertoire.
"De Organizer" and "Yamekraw: A Negro Rhapsody" performed for the first time in decades. "Dreamy" performed for the first time ever! And several other pieces are being prepared for live re-debuts!
